Introduction to the subdivision and differences of Gate Valve

A Gate Valve is a safety protection valve for a closed system. Its opening and closing parts are in a normally closed state under the action of external forces. When the medium pressure in the closed system increases and exceeds the specified value of the Gate Valve, it automatically opens and discharges the medium to the outside of the system to reduce the system pressure to prevent the damage of the high-pressure system in the system. Universal Valve belong to the automatic valve category and are mainly used in boilers, pressure vessels, air conditioners, and solar energy pipelines to control the pressure not to exceed the specified value, which plays an important protective role in personal safety and equipment operation.

Terminology of Universal Valve:

(1) Gate Valve. An automatic valve. It does not rely on any external force, but uses the force of the medium itself to discharge a rated amount of fluid to prevent the pressure in the system from exceeding the predetermined safety value; when the pressure returns to normal, the valve closes again and prevents the medium from continuing to flow out.

(2) Direct load Gate Valve. A Gate Valve that uses a direct mechanical load, such as a weight, a lever plus a weight, or a spring to overcome the force generated by the medium pressure under the valve disc.

(3) Gate Valve with power assist device. The Gate Valve can be opened at a lower opening pressure than the normal opening pressure with the help of a power auxiliary device. Even if the auxiliary device fails, this type of Gate Valve can still meet the standard requirements.

(4) Gate Valve with supplementary load. This Gate Valve always maintains a pressure that enhances the seal before the pressure at its inlet reaches the opening pressure. The additional force (supplementary load) can be provided by an external energy source and should be reliably released when the Gate Valve reaches the opening pressure. Its size should be set so that, assuming that the additional force is not released, the Gate Valve can still reach the rated displacement under the premise that the inlet pressure does not exceed the percentage of the opening pressure specified by national regulations.

(5) Pilot Gate Valve. A Gate Valve that relies on the discharge of medium from the pilot valve to drive or control. The pilot valve itself should be a direct load Gate Valve that meets the standard requirements.

(6) Proportional Gate Valve. A Gate Valve that opens or closes proportionally within the entire opening height range or within a relatively large opening height range.

(7) Full-open Gate Valve. A Gate Valve that opens proportionally only within a small opening height range and then suddenly opens to the fully open position. The opening height is not less than 1/4 of the flow channel diameter.

(8) Micro-opening Gate Valve. It is a direct-acting Gate Valve used only for liquid media. The opening height is in the range of 1/40 to 1/20 of the flow channel diameter.

(9) Opening pressure (rated pressure). The inlet pressure at which the Gate Valve disc begins to rise under operating conditions. At this pressure, there begins to be a measurable opening height, and the medium is in a continuous discharge state that can be detected visually or audibly.
